The Limes provides supported housing for 26 young men. The accommodation provided consists of a detached house with twenty furnished single rooms spread over 3 floors and an annexe building at the rear with six furnished rooms over 2 floors. Each room is provided with bedding, a sink and a fridge. The following facilities are also available:

• Shared kitchens with kitchen furniture & cookers on each floor
• Furnished communal lounges with TV and video recorder available to all service users
• Games room, with a slate bed pool table
• Furnished Contact Room with TV & dj mixing centre
• Access to tuck shop
• Computer room with internet access
• Laundry facilities
• Meeting room, which offers privacy for link working, interviews and other meetings

The project is staffed from 8am until midnight every day. An emergency service is provided by a sleep in member of staff and an on call service. The Project Manager leads the staff team which includes a Senior Project Worker, full and part time Project Workers, an Administrator and Domestic staff.

Service Users will normally stay at our project for a period of two years before moving on to independent living.

Project History

Initially the Limes was owned by a well to do butcher in the Manchester area. This was confirmed to us via the community in the area, during an open day at our project.
In the 1970s the Hostel was used to accommodate young ladies; mainly student nurses connected to the church, where the Manager lived. A housekeeper and cook were employed to work there and meals were provided to all. One cannot say for sure but we have heard tales of strawberry teas being enjoyed in the Rose Garden during the summer time!

In 1985 it changed to a mixed hostel owned by Chapter 1, before becoming an all male hostel.
