Southwest Surrey
As an outreach service we offer impartial advice, information and support to victims of abuse. We can offer help with court orders like injunctions and occupation orders, we can install alarms, and sanctuary schemes offered by the local authority. We also provide counsellors to help with the long term effects on the victims.
Outreach is about listening to and understanding the victims wishes and to empower them to make informed decisions.
At the moment we work Monday to Friday 10.00am - 3.00pm and have 2 members of staff in our team.
Project History
Our outreach service officially started in April 2004. It was new to the area and funding has continued since then on a year by year contract. In that time we have spoken to and helped over 600 victims, had two service user satisfaction surveys and have had a 98% positive response to the help we offer. We have also just been awarded the 2007 Criminal Justices award for helping victims of abuse in Surrey.
We also provide training to other agencies, attending the Surrey Police training as well as the Royal Surrey in-house training, both of which run twice a year.
Our Referral Process
Referral into our service is quite straightforward. We simply need the victim's consent that we can call her/him. We also accept referrals from any agencies as well as self referrals.
