2nd Chance Furniture Re-Use in Nuneaton is encouraging its volunteers to use their creative skills to promote the re-use message and develop their own small business. James Bayley, a volunteer at  the showroom in Weddington Terrace has started his own small business ‘Bayley Wreaths and Arrangements’ whilst volunteering at 2nd Chance.  During his time at the project James has developed his skills and experience by working on the shop floor and also as a driver’s mate.  James has completed his Level One Floristry at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College and has won many awards whilst studying at the college, most notably a silver medal in the Footsteps to the Future competition

2nd Chance Furniture is part of the national charity Chapter 1 and has over forty volunteers and work placements based at its Weddington Terrace warehouse - where the aims are to provide affordable used furniture, reduce the amount of waste going into landfill and provide volunteering experiences.

Volunteer Co-ordinator at the Project, Loraine Hayley said:‘We are delighted that the project is able to develop  its volunteers in this way. The supportive,  training environment at 2nd Chance has allowed James to develop the confidence to start his own small business, whilst making a contribution to the work of 2nd Chance. We will be showcasing James’ work between 20th and 24th June 2011 at our showroom and we hope that people will come along and support him. We hope that this will be the first of many showcases. ’‘
