Residents, members of staff and management from Christian Alliance Centre Waterloo hosted its annual International Evening on 24th October 2009.
In addition to complimentary feedback on the variety of quality dishes served up, CAC Waterloo received positive acknowledgement by guests for the entertainment organised and for a creative and fun forum enabling people from all walks of life to interact and learn more about other cultures.
Students from the project entertained a full house of residents, friends, family and representatives of other projects within the organisation with a heated performance involving fire spinning, an exceptional piece on the piano as well as a few brilliant individual performances as part of a satirical skit about one person’s journey to London and the typical experiences that characterise life as a student.
The project also managed to secure the attendance of an acclaimed and much sought-after magician for the evening. Guests were also invited to have their photograph taken for a minimal fee, and all proceeds raised were presented to the organisation’s sister charity TABS.
A range of traditional meals were made available to guests to sample – including dishes from the Bahamas, Bulgaria, China, Finland, Germany, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.
The project is proud of its track record in promoting culture and diversity and has, at present, over twenty-five different nationalities represented within the project.
Multi-cultural development and awareness is an entrenched and much coveted aspect of modern society, and particularly in London, one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. CAC Waterloo is proud that this aspect was evident and felt amongst all that attended the International Evening.
Well done to everyone involved!
