Second Chance goes soft...

Wednesday 21st January 2009, saw the opening of the refurbished soft furnishing room at Second Chance Furniture. Pupils from Hartshill School have worked hard to paint, decorate and organise the soft furnishing room adjacent to the downstairs office.  Sharon Tedds, Work Related Learning Co-ordinator at the school accompanied the pupils, who were keen to help out and enjoyed their experience at Second Chance.  As a result of their work, customers can now more easily browse the extensive range of curtains, bedding and other soft furnishings on sale at the project.  The school also donated £195 that they received from the Princes Trust to Second Chance furniture to help cover the cost of the refurbishment.

Hilary Boyce from the Prince’s Trust officially opened the room  and said how proud she was of the pupils and their achievement. The work will be used as evidence for their Asdan Award which they are currently working towards.

The school chose Second Chance as they believe in the project and the way in which it supports the community and keeps waste out of landfill.  The school is currently working towards eco-school status.
