The Big Womble

'Making good use of the things that we find...'

On 20th February 2009,  2nd Chance Furniture Re-Use Project in Nuneaton took part in the Furniture Re-use Network’s (FRN) BIG WOMBLE.

Our Womble and his team were to be seen in Nuneaton town centre throughout the day – providing information on the Furniture Re-Use scheme that operates out of Weddington Terrace and also giving people the chance to win a free re-furbished bicycle.

Lucy Underhill (prompted to enter by her young son Sam) was the lucky winner of the bike.

A number of bookings were also made to collect donated furniture and Peter Whitehead (Project manager) said ”It is surprising how many people have still not heard about our scheme even though we have been around for nearly three years now.  Residents of Nuneaton & Bedworth still seem to be throwing good items of furniture into the tip when we are able to collect from them without charge (although donations are always acceptable!!).  In our current economic climate it is essential that we try and maintain a well stocked warehouse so that people who have been hit by the recession can still access affordable furniture.  Can I appeal to the people of Nuneaton, Bedworth & North Warwickshire to spread the news about what we do?”

Anyone who has furniture to donate or have a need for furniture and other household goods can either call in at the Weddington Terrace showroom, or telephone for more information on 024 7632 6189.  2nd Chance is a charitable, non-profit making project.
