I was appointed to the position of Property and Development Manager in October 1999.  This followed a short period of part-time secondment from the Field Lane Foundation, another London-based charitable Housing Association specialising largely in the care of the elderly.  I have therefore made rather a quantum leap backwards from one end of the human life span to the other.  Unfortunately, it hasn’t made me feel any younger!

The work for which I am responsible primarily covers two main areas – development and maintenance. 

I am based at the Central Office of Chapter 1 and my role requires that I contribute to development strategy, implement and manage the organisation’s development programme, ensure satisfactory condition and efficient maintenance of existing stock and oversee major repairs and improvements to existing stock. 

Other responsibilities include advising on health and safety issues, introducing appropriate support systems, researching and recommending on cost reduction mechanisms on utility supplies, etc.
